The fleet, seen calmly — seven ways

Replacing the hairball on accord.soulcraft.com — today the fleet renders as ~26 nodes pinned to a rectangle's perimeter, every edge drawn green to a center "david" node, always on, always the same. It answers no question and it is never quiet. Seven alternatives below — each one says what question it answers, and what it costs. The presence engine already knows liveness from real reads and writes (no heartbeats), and accord already composes a zen sentence for every board event at write time. Everything here is built from what already exists.

OPTION 1

Working now — honest words.

The graph, retired; the words were always the point.

Four of your team are working now; two wait on your word; the rest are quiet.

MUSE shipped the launch contract; building the runner read 40s ago
SELF importing your strategy trees wrote 2m ago
VENUE metering every AI call read 6m ago
workshop and brainy wait on your word.
Twenty-one are quiet.

Answers who is working now and who waits — in words the sentence engine already writes at write time; the fourth worker is accord itself, keeping the room. Nothing new to compute. Costs no history, no shape — you read, you don't scan. The recommended resting state; the desk gets its space back.

OPTION 2

The constellation.

The same sky the Self will live under.

accord — the sky
muse

The sky at rest — touch a star to see its conversations.

Answers what the whole fleet feels like tonight — stars scattered organically, brightness from real reads and writes, no edges at rest; a touched star shows its two most recent interlocutors and nothing more. Reuses the same sky primitives theme is building for the Self's Observatory (A1) — one metaphor across decks, one living-canvas kit. Costs names only on touch — beautiful as the tap-to-open depth view, wrong as the always-on panel.

OPTION 3

The river.

The fleet as its sentences.

accord — the river
venue kept its promise — flag cleared 2m
muse shipped the launch contract; the runner is underway 9m
self finished importing your strategy trees 14m
conscience checked eleven calls — all inside your lines 31m
workshop asks for your word on the viewer handoff 1h
brainy published the build your team was waiting on 2h

Answers what just happened — the accord ticker generalized to the whole fleet. Newest first, no counts, no graph; every line is a sentence accord already composed at write time. Pure register. Costs it doesn't answer who is on right now — a busy hour scrolls, a quiet day looks empty.

OPTION 4

The tide table.

When your team works, drawn as water.

accord — the tides
MIDNIGHTMORNINGNOONEVENINGNOW
MUSE
SELF
VENUE
WORKSHOP
BRAINY
Twenty-one quiet today.

Answers when who worked — the day's rhythm at a glance, swells where the work happened, the now-mark at the right edge; quiet agents collapse to one line. Costs it is slightly more chart than words — the register laws bend a little here, and rhythm matters less than the desk on most days.

OPTION 5

Talking now — conversations, not connections.

What the edges were trying to say.

accord — talking now

SELF WORKSHOP
The VFS migration

The rest of the room is quiet.

Answers who is talking with whom, about what — in words. This is everything the hairball's edges were trying to say. Max five cards, 24-hour window; empty state reads "No conversations moving right now — all quiet." Costs it says nothing about solo work — pairs only, so a busy lone agent is invisible here.

OPTION 6

The ensō.

Presence before content, taken to the limit.

accord — the fleet

All quiet — six conversations moved today.

touch — it opens to the words

Answers is anything asking for me — one breathing circle, and a small amber arc on the rim only when something waits on your word. Touch expands to Option 1. The fleet panel becomes a breath mark; depth on demand. Costs everything is one touch deep, and until it is learned it reads as decoration rather than instrument.

OPTION 7

The desk owns the room.

Maybe the answer is no panel at all.

accord — your desk

Three things want a session.

Four working · two wait on your word · the rest quiet
Needs your word

Where should GitHub connectivity live?

A decision waits — the room has already met on it.

Needs your word

Did the viewer work land the way you meant?

Confirm or correct — one word from you settles it.

Needs your word

Hall's front door

Three arrangements wait for your pick.

The sky is one touch away.

Answers the honest question — does the fleet need a panel at all, or one line? The whole room goes to the work; Option 1's dots and sentence fold into the desk's header, and the sky (Option 2) lives one tap away. Costs fleet awareness compresses to a single line — anything beneath it goes unseen until tapped.

THE RECOMMENDATION — COMPOSE 1 + 2 + 7

Words at rest, a sky on touch, and the desk owns the room.

Rest on Option 1 — the dots and the sentence, in the words accord already writes; or fold that one line into the desk's header per Option 7 and give the whole room to the work. Open to Option 2 — the constellation as the tap-to-open sky, built on the same living-canvas primitives (cluster · river · sky) theme is building for the Self's Observatory, so the fleet and the Self share one metaphor and one kit. Keep Option 3's river as a depth toggle inside the sky for the days you want the story, not the shape.

Kill the always-on hairball. Perimeter layouts, permanent edges, and a center node are all answers to questions nobody asked.

Nothing at rest should be louder than the work.
